Jesse Cook Hartford Concert reviews
Where's the music?
I went to see Jesse Cook's music at the concert. The show was about an hour and a half to an hour and 45 minutes long. He's a great storyteller. In that time, he did a lot of talking and storytelling. I could listen to him telling stories all day long. The piano player had two long solos as did the guitar player in the time frame of the concert. They were both very good at what they did. Very enjoyable. Then he closed the show with Quinn Sullivan, the 14-year-old opening act playing almost two solos too, with Buddy playing a little backup. But two solos each? All in all, I think Buddy only played "The Blues," no more than 30 to 40 minutes tops. The rest of the show was solos and him talking and telling stories.
I had my Chinese Son-in-law with me, the live show director and producer in Beijing. He too was expecting more of Jesse Cook performing and not everyone else.
Buddy is 77 and is doing good for his age, God bless him. But I don't feel I got what I paid for. I was expecting more of a Jesse Cook singing the Blues type of concert. Where's the Jesse Cook Blue's music?
